15-Aug-2025.

The US Treasury Secretary has warned that the Trump administration could impose additional secondary tariffs on India, with the final decision depending on the outcome of a meeting between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Speaking to Bloomberg TV on August 13, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the US may impose further secondary sanctions if the talks in Alaska on August 15 fail to yield positive results.
"We've put secondary tariffs on Indians for buying Russian oil. And I could see, If things don't go well, then sanctions or secondary tariffs could go up," Bessent said in an interview to Bloomberg TV.
