Committee recommends stronger cybersecurity measures in public institutions

The Committee on Public Finance has recommended urgent measures to strengthen cybersecurity across Government institutions following the cyber fraud involving a US$2.5 million foreign debt repayment.

The committee said the incident exposed serious weaknesses in digital security and institutional coordination. It called for updated information technology systems, enhanced monitoring mechanisms and improved cooperation among State agencies to safeguard public finances and prevent future cyber fraud.
