The Trump administration's new guidelines now require parents, including US citizens, to verify their immigration status to secure passports or Social Security numbers for their newborns. 

It is part of the Trump administration's larger clamp down on immigration, including on birthright citizenship.

The documents, released by half a dozen federal agencies in recent days, provide the clearest picture yet of how the government could implement the proposed changes – despite the fact that the Executive Order (EO) is currently on hold due to court challenges, according to CNN.
