Relatives Depart with Heavy Hearts After Meeting Political Prisoners; Komagan
16-Sep-2025.
A meeting was held between political prisoners and their relatives. It was an emotionally moving encounter.
After meeting the political prisoners, their relatives – along with us – left with heavy hearts and tears in our eyes, said Murugaiya Komagan, activist of the "Voice of the Voiceless" organization.
He expressed these sentiments to the media after visiting political prisoners at Bogambara Prison. He further said:
During this short meeting, the moment when political prisoner Anantha Sudhaharan fed his daughter with his own hands deeply wounded the heart.
We appeal to the President of this country that such meetings should be made permanently available for these children.
On National Prisoners’ Day, it is customary for prisoners to be released under general amnesty.
However, this year no prisoners were released.
The prisoners are waiting with hope for their release. We humbly request the President that the remaining ten political prisoners be released on the basis of reconciliation, he added.
