Former Speaker of Parliament Karu Jayasuriya stated that people should not continue to hate one another because of differences, but instead must embrace humanity beyond those differences.

He made these remarks while addressing the same book launch event held on 13 January at the Lighthouse Auditorium in Colombo, organised under the theme “Echoes of Palestine” by the Palestine–Sri Lanka Solidarity Committee and the Palestinian Embassy.

Speaking further, he said that the situation in Palestine reflects not only the condition of Palestine itself, but the state of global justice. When power operates above public policy, ordinary people are forced to suffer the consequences of decisions taken without their participation.

No one chooses their mother, father, religion, country, or language at birth, he said. These are not achievements but matters of circumstance. Therefore, people should not harbour hatred based on such differences, but should instead reflect on the importance of embracing humanity beyond them. In this context, he described the book as both important and necessary.
