Canadian Envoy Meets Jaffna MPs

Canada will provide as much assistance as possible to rebuild Sri Lanka’s war-affected Northern and Eastern regions, the Canadian envoy assured Jaffna district MPs of the National People's Power party during a meeting on July 16.

Discussions covered land issues, investment zones, and the current status of Jaffna. The MPs expressed hope that Canada would support development projects and praised the current government for its people-centered leadership.

The meeting also addressed encouraging investments from Tamil expatriates in Canada. Special mention was made of a Canadian-backed project targeting female-headed households in the North, for which government support was sought.

As the Canadian envoy’s term concludes this month, the MPs extended their gratitude and appreciation for his service.
