"No Room for Sexual Harassment" – Minister Bimal

"There is no room for sexual harassment in buses, trains, or stations," stated Minister of Public Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation Bimal Rathnayake during the launch of a national awareness campaign to end harassment in public spaces.

He added, "Public transportation serves as a vital link to opportunities in education and employment. Yet for many women and girls, it has become a source of fear. We are centering safety as a right—not a luxury—across all aspects of transportation reform, from enforcement and supervision to technology and training."

The Minister emphasized, "Sexual harassment has no place in our transport systems. Safety is our responsibility, and we must act now to make it a reality."
