Russian President Vladimir Putin signaled that the Ukraine war is nearing its end amid a US-backed ceasefire and a major prisoner swap. 

During a scaled-down Victory Day parade in Moscow, Putin praised Russian troops, accused NATO of aggression, and hinted at future diplomacy, favoring former German Chancellor Schroeder as an intermediary. 

He stated a meeting with Ukraine's Zelenskyy would require a peace agreement. The conflict, Europe's deadliest since WWII, has caused massive casualties and strained Russia-West relations, while calls for extended ceasefires emerge.
