Israel bombs Beirut
08-May-2026.
Israel conducted its first airstrikes in Beirut since a ceasefire with Hezbollah began last month, targeting and reportedly killing a senior Hezbollah Radwan Force commander and others. This escalated tensions despite ongoing ceasefire and peace talks involving the US and Iran.
Concurrent Israeli strikes across southern Lebanon killed at least 13 civilians. Hezbollah retaliated with drone and rocket attacks injuring Israeli soldiers. Diplomatic efforts remain limited, with Lebanese leaders demanding an Israeli withdrawal timetable before higher-level talks, amid heavy casualties exceeding 2,700 deaths in Lebanon.
