The Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court will deliver its order on November 25 on a petition filed by former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa seeking the lifting of his overseas travel ban to enable him to obtain medical treatment abroad.

The petition was considered on November 5, before Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasekara, with the former President appearing in court.

The travel ban was imposed on Rajapaksa around four months ago in connection with investigations into alleged attempts to misdirect the investigations into the Easter Sunday attacks. The case involves three suspects, including retired Major General Suresh Sallay, former Director of National Intelligence.

On October 28, Rajapaksa filed a motion through his lawyer, Sanath Wijewardena, stating that he needed to travel overseas for medical treatment. The Magistrate subsequently sought the CID's position on the request.

CID investigating officers appeared before court on November 5 and requested an appropriate order that would enable the former President to be summoned before court again.
