Pedestrian struck and killed crossing Vancouver street: police
28-Oct-2026.
A 45-year-old woman has died after being hit by a vehicle in Vancouver just after midnight on October 25, according to police.
The woman was struck by an SUV travelling southbound as she crossed at a marked crosswalk at Main Street at National Avenue, according to a news release from the Vancouver Police Department (VPD).
The driver remained at the scene, and police do not believe alcohol or substance use were factors, the release said.
"It was dark and raining heavily at the time," VPD said in the release.
"Police are once again calling for additional caution on the roads this season as visibility becomes more challenging for both pedestrians and drivers."
Police say the woman was the second pedestrian struck in Vancouver in just a few days.
