Ottawa police recover body found in water near Petrie Island

A body was recovered from the Ottawa River on the night of May 9, according to Ottawa police. The police service said the body was located in the water near Petrie Island by its marine unit.

The person's identity has not yet been confirmed, and the service's east criminal investigations section is investigating.

Police said any death that occurs outside of a hospital that is unexpected is considered suspicious until it can be determined otherwise.
