Man dead after apartment fire in Toronto's east end

One person is dead and another is in critical condition after an apartment fire in Toronto's east end in the morning on July 20. 

Toronto police say crews responded to an apartment building in the Gerrard Street East and Glenside Avenue area shortly after midnight on Sunday. Several occupants of the building were rescued, but one person has succumbed to their injuries. 

A man in his 70s was pronounced dead, and a woman in her 70s is in critical condition. The Office of the Fire Marshal has been notified and is attending the scene to investigate the cause of the fire.
