Alberta bill would boost consumers’ rights to repair cars, electronics
29-Oct-2026.
The Alberta government wants to ensure consumers can fix their own vehicles, equipment and electronics by forcing manufacturers to supply repair manuals and parts.
The proposal is among a slew of changes in Bill 34, introduced on October 28 in the legislature.
The right-to-repair bid would require manufacturers to make repair manuals, diagnostic or repair tools and replacement parts available to owners and third-party services.
The government said it would specify which products are included later, but listed vehicles, agricultural equipment, electronics and appliances in a news release.
