US launches fresh strikes on Iran

The US launched a third round of strikes against Iran after the IRGC attacked the Cyprus-flagged MV GFS Galaxy in the Strait of Hormuz, injuring a crew member and severely damaging the vessel. 

CENTCOM stated the strikes aim to degrade Iran's ability to target commercial shipping. 

Concurrently, Iran reported multiple explosions in southern cities and declared the Strait of Hormuz closed, escalating tensions over control of this strategic waterway amid violations of a tenuous ceasefire and oil sanctions disputes.
