A 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia's coffee-growing region, killing over 200 people and injuring nearly 1,500. Rescue crews searched through rubble as thousands of homes and buildings collapsed or were severely damaged. 

Infrastructure including airports, roads, electricity, and water was disrupted, complicating relief efforts. Families waited for survivors amid destroyed neighborhoods. 

Emergency teams and international aid, including millions of dollars from the US and the Inter-American Development Bank, mobilized to provide medical care, shelter, and supplies as the disaster's full impact remained uncertain.
