TikTok has been making headlines as debate about its presence in the US continues. But, a new twist has emerged involving Donald Trump and Elon Musk. As Trump has lifted a temporary ban on TikTok, Musk has criticised the Chinese government for banning X (formerly Twitter).

The Supreme Court recently upheld a ruling requiring TikTok to be sold by its China-based parent company over national security concerns.

However, with Trump preparing to take office, discussions are underway for a potential 90-day reprieve on the app, and rumours are circulating about Musk being eyed as a potential buyer for TikTok's US operations.

Elon Musk has criticised the move to unban TikTok in the US, stating that it undermines freedom of speech. He also stressed that the ban on X (formerly Twitter) in China creates an "unbalanced" scenario, given that TikTok operates freely in the US while X is restricted in China
