Shaheen Shah Afridi has joined Pakistan legend Wasim Akram in an exclusive list of visiting left-arm pacers to claim four or more wickets in an ODI innings in the West Indies.

The 24-year-old spearhead delivered a fiery spell of 4 for 51 in the first ODI at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba on August 8, ripping through the hosts’ batting lineup to set up Pakistan’s five-wicket win.

Shaheen is only the seventh bowler to achieve the feat, with Akram’s 4 for 18 in Kingstown in 1993 still celebrated as one of the most clinical exhibitions of swing bowling in Caribbean conditions.

Australia’s Mitchell Johnson and Mitchell Starc stand alone as the only left-arm quicks to take five-wicket hauls in ODIs on Caribbean soil.
