Sallay Has Not Consumed Even a Drop of Water for Eight Days, Says Wife

The wife of former intelligence chief Suresh Sallay has expressed grave concern over his deteriorating health, stating that he currently lacks the strength even to sit up in bed and has reportedly not consumed food or water for approximately eight days.

She made these remarks after visiting Sallay, who is receiving treatment at the National Hospital of Colombo while in detention under the Prevention of Terrorism Act.

According to her, Sallay is suffering from a fever and an infection, and both his hands have become swollen. Continuous medical treatment has left him extremely weak, making even basic conversation difficult.

She expressed appreciation for the efforts of medical staff, stating that doctors and hospital personnel are doing everything possible to care for him.

However, she urged the relevant authorities to intervene immediately, warning that waiting until his condition worsens further would be unacceptable. Necessary measures, she said, must be taken to safeguard his life.
