Easter Attack Mastermind Is in Prison, Says Chandrika

Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga has stated that the mastermind behind the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks is currently in prison. She said peace marches currently being carried out in the country are welcome, but added that walking alone is not sufficient, and there appears to be no practical action being taken towards peace.

She made these remarks while responding to questions raised by journalists at an event held in the Attanagalla area on April 22.

Continuing her responses, she said many good initiatives begin in Attanagalla and extended her greetings to the government and the public. While she welcomed the ongoing peace march, she stressed that meaningful action is necessary to ensure peace.

When asked about the Easter Sunday commemoration, she reiterated that the key individual behind the attack is now imprisoned. She added that the expectation of all citizens is for justice to be delivered to those responsible and for peace to be firmly established.
