Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna General Secretary Tilwin Silva has stated that attempts to destroy or suppress witnesses in major corruption investigations will not succeed.

Speaking in an interview on May 9, he said investigations into past corruption cases have reached a critical stage, implicating close associates and relatives of former leaders.

He alleged that some individuals are attempting to obstruct investigations by targeting witnesses.

He referred to past incidents of witness intimidation and killings in political cases and said such practices are being rejected by the current administration.

He stated that suspects are currently being held in custody for their protection and that investigations are supported by documentary and scientific evidence.

He added that the government remains committed to bringing those responsible for corruption before the law and ensuring justice without interference.
