7.6 magnitude earthquake rattles Japan

A 7.6 magnitude earthquake rattled off the coast of Japan, triggering a tsunami warning with waves as high as three metres and sending people into panic, the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) said.
The tsunami warning was issued for the prefectures of Hokkaido, Aomori and Iwate, after the quake jolted a large part of Japan's north and east at 11:15 pm (local time) on Dec 8, news agency Reuters reported.
