Threats to File a Case Regarding Chemmany – Krupakaran

.

There have been threats to file a court case regarding the Chemmany issue, according to Krupakaran, a member of the management board of the relevant cemetery.

He made this statement while speaking to the media in the Chemmany area.

He further explained, reports emerged in the media that a mysterious vehicle was observing Chemmany. Those reports are entirely true. This mysterious vehicle was also seen near my house. Its purpose was clearly to intimidate me as the complainant.

From 1995 to 2000, during the height of strict censorship in this area, all administrative activities were under the control of the military, and no one came forward voluntarily to provide testimony.

Under such circumstances, as I have taken up this matter now, many affected people in the Ariyalai area have begun coming forward to share their testimonies. This activity appears intended to threaten witnesses or prevent them from testifying.

For example, in the first report given by the primary accused, Somaratne Rajapaksa, in 1998 regarding the mass graves, the fifteenth mass grave was identified near a well adjacent to a military camp along the

A-9 Road close to Ponnambalam Junction. Even now, the army camp remains there. It was into that private property where this mysterious vehicle entered. I personally observed this.

The road leading to my house ends at my residence, making it unnecessary for any other vehicle to enter that lane. Yet, two vehicles came. A witness saw this directly and informed me.

Therefore, regardless of threats or intimidation, I remain firm in pursuing this case. The people are resolute in providing their evidence. Through this, many truths will come to light, and we will submit them to court and continue all efforts to secure justice for the Tamil people.
