Tamil People’s Front Ready to Meet TNA Next Week
11-Aug-2025.

The Tamil People’s Front (TPF), representing Tamil political parties and civil organizations from the Northern and Eastern provinces, has expressed readiness to meet the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) next week, following TNA’s hesitation to sign a joint letter sent to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
At a meeting held on August 1 in Colombo, these groups discussed whether TNA would endorse the letter.
At a political committee meeting in Jaffna on August 3, TNA planned to decide on signing the letter and also scheduled a meeting between both parties for that day.
However, after the committee meeting, TNA members reportedly did not meet their waiting supporters, causing some dissatisfaction.
Due to last-minute uncertainties, the planned meeting did not happen on August 7. The TPF leader and MP Kajendrakumar Ponnambalam said they remain ready to meet next week if TNA wishes.
