Sri Lanka and Australia Strengthen Cooperation; PM Meets Australian Governor-General

The Prime Minister briefed the Australian Governor-General on Sri Lanka’s new education reforms aimed at implementing a high-quality, inclusive education system accessible to all.
The meeting took place on August 8 at the Presidential Secretariat between Australian Governor-General Samantha Joy Mostyn and Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya.
This encounter reaffirmed the longstanding friendship between Sri Lanka and Australia. The discussions emphasized strengthening cooperation particularly in politics, economics, and sports.
Additionally, the Governor-General expressed keen interest in closely collaborating on education reforms. Both sides exchanged valuable views on increasing women's participation and leadership in politics, reflecting their shared commitment to gender equality.
The Governor-General also assured continued Australian support for Sri Lanka’s development programs and discussed prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.
