Rs. 900.49 Million Allocated to Northern Farmers

Deputy Minister of Labour and Livestock Resources Namal Karunaratne reported that 14,235 cattle and buffalo have died in the Northern Province due to recent disasters.
A total of Rs. 900.49 million has been allocated to support affected farmers.
Of this, Rs. 258.85 million has been disbursed to the directly affected farmers, with additional allocations planned.
Compensation for dead livestock will follow a structured scale: Rs. 2 lakh per dead cow for up to 10 cows and Rs. 50,000 per dead local cow for up to 20 cows. Medications worth Rs. 25 million have been provided for remaining vulnerable livestock.
Storm relief for goats has been provided in the form of 266,650 kg of feed worth Rs. 280 million across the Northern Province, distributed proportionally to districts.
