Chief Minister MK Stalin on July 18 convened a meeting with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MPs ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, during which a series of resolutions were adopted to highlight critical issues concerning Tamil Nadu.

The DMK MPs have been directed to raise all the key demands and points put forth by party chief Stalin during the NITI Aayog meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 24.

Among the primary concerns raised by the DMK chief is the Centre's insistence on naming Union government schemes only in English, which the party argues undermines linguistic diversity and regional identity.

The DMK will also push for a new central scheme focused on cleaning and rejuvenating major Tamil Nadu rivers, including the Cauvery, Vaigai, and Thamirabarani.

Another major point of contention is the denial of Samagra Shiksha funds to Tamil Nadu for not adhering to the Centre’s three-language policy.

The party MPs have also been urged to rake up the Centre’s continued refusal to accept the Keezhadi archaeological findings and its alleged failure to release adequate funds for railway projects in Tamil Nadu, as well as under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act.
