Opposition Leader Warns of Drug Shortage for Caesarean Surgeries
16-Aug-2025.

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa stated that there is a shortage of medicines required for performing caesarean surgeries.
Speaking on 14-08-2025 at a meeting with newly elected United People’s Power local council members from the Monaragala district, he said:
“There are severe difficulties in conducting caesarean surgeries for pregnant mothers. There is a shortage of anaesthesia and post-anaesthetic medicines.
Although the government promised to provide a permanent solution to the medicine shortage upon coming to power, today even free healthcare and education are in decline.
In such circumstances, we must work together with the people, understand their needs and wishes, and serve them as best we can.”
