National security maintained at highest level, says Deputy Defence Minister

Deputy Defence Minister Arun Jayasekara says the Government has maintained national security at the highest level since assuming office.

Responding to journalists after an event in Nawalapitiya, he acknowledged that recent developments had raised public security concerns but said the situation had been brought under control. He added that the Government continued to implement its programmes in line with the Constitution and established policies, while clarifications on several issues, including prison administration reforms, would be provided in the coming days.
