Ministers Vasantha and Mahinda Summoned for Testimony

The Magistrate's Court in Kalutara has ordered Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development Vasantha Samarasinghe, Deputy Minister of Labour Mahinda Jayasinghe, and Kaduwela Mayor Ranjan Jayalal to submit statements in connection with an alleged fraud.

They are accused of leasing a two-story building owned by the National Workers' Institution for Rs. 3.6 million using forged documents. Magistrate Sathurika de Silva issued the order to the Colombo Fraud Investigation Division.

During court proceedings, certified copies of lease documents and ownership records, including meeting minutes from the National Workers’ Congress recognizing Samarasinghe as the leader, were submitted.
