Ensuring the Safety and Justice of Tamils is Essential — Michael McNamara

Member of the European Parliament Michael McNamara has emphasized that concrete measures must be taken to ensure the safety and justice of the Tamil community in Sri Lanka through the UNHRC Resolution on Promoting Reconciliation, Accountability, and Human Rights.

At the recently concluded 60th Session of the UN Human Rights Council, the resolution extending the mandate of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights on Sri Lanka was adopted.

During a meeting with MP Ramnathan Archuna of the Jaffna District, McNamara discussed issues including the Tamil question, political settlement, accountability, and reconciliation.

He later posted on his official X (Twitter) account that while progress has been made under the said resolution, further actions must be taken to ensure the safety and justice of the Tamil people in Sri Lanka.
