Govt may mandate OTT certification
16-Jul-2026.
The Indian government is considering mandatory Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) approval for films released on OTT platforms after Diljit Dosanjh's Satluj was streamed without certification. The uncertified release led to calls for legal action against unauthorized screenings and the platform Zee5.
The Centre may amend IT guidelines to enforce certification for all OTT films. Satluj, depicting activist Jaswant Singh Khalra's life, was removed from Zee5 but continues to be screened at community events to preserve his legacy.
