North Rustico bans e-bikes, bikes and e-scooters from its boardwalk

E-bikes, bikes and e-scooters are now banned from the North Rustico boardwalk, while mobility devices will continue to be allowed.

The town council made the decision in August after residents raised safety concerns about bikes on the boardwalk.

The issue began last summer, and the newly renovated boardwalk, known as the Sea Walk, is now reserved for pedestrians and people using mobility devices, said Stephanie Moase, the town’s chief administrative officer.

Moase said the old boards had become spongy, and people could feel them flex as bikes passed.
