Sri Lanka and US Review Expanding Defence Partnership

The growing defence partnership between Sri Lanka and the United States, including maritime and air cooperation, was reviewed during talks between US Pacific Air Forces Commander General Kevin Schneider and Deputy Defence Minister Major General (Retd.) Aruna Jayasekara.

Discussions also covered disaster response cooperation, cyber security and broader defence collaboration. The US Embassy stated that Sri Lanka’s ports and maritime domain are vital to global trade and that building modern, professional and disciplined armed forces contributes to both national security and regional stability.
