Boy, 6, dies after being found in Rideau River

Ottawa police say a six-year-old died after being found in the Rideau River on the afternoon of May 28 near Hog's Back Falls.

The child was reported missing just after 5 p.m. according to police, and was found shortly after and pulled to shore. 

Bystanders, then paramedics gave first aid on the scene before the child was taken to hospital in critical, life-threatening condition.

Paramedics said the boy died at the hospital.  

Police say the investigation remains ongoing. The victim's name has not been released.
