Ambassador Mahinda Samarasinghe Visits Montana, USA

Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the United States Mahinda Samarasinghe visited the US state of Montana on March 31, with the objective of strengthening bilateral relations developing under the State Partnership Programme between Montana and Sri Lanka.
The Montana National Guard stated that the visit was aimed at further expanding cooperation in disaster response, education, and industrial relations, while also promoting the resilience built by both sides over several decades.
The Guard noted that from Montana’s mountainous regions to Sri Lanka’s coastal areas, both sides are linked through shared understanding, and emphasised that rapid disaster response requires strong bilateral ties and cooperation.
During the visit, Ambassador Samarasinghe gratefully recalled the assistance extended by medical specialists, engineers, and disaster relief personnel of the Montana National Guard, who worked jointly with the Sri Lankan Government following the disaster caused by Cyclone ‘Dithwa’.
The Montana National Guard further stated that the visit serves as a signal of expanding education and industrial cooperation between Sri Lanka and Montana to the next level.
