Ontario MPP Vijay Thanigasalam has strongly condemned the vandalism of the Tamil Genocide Memorial in Brampton, Canada, calling it a direct attack on the identity and history of Canadian Tamils.

The memorial, inaugurated last year by Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown, was damaged by unidentified individuals.

Sharing images on social media, Thanigasalam stated: “This act causes deep pain and anger. The memorial stands in remembrance of thousands of lives lost and serves as a symbol of healing for survivors and their families.”

He added that as a representative of a large and resilient Tamil community in Ontario, such acts of vandalism are unacceptable.

“There is no place for hate or genocide denial in Ontario. We remain committed to preserving Tamil history and respecting the community’s right to remembrance,” he said.
