4-year-old dies after being found in neighbour's pool

A four-year-old child was found unresponsive on October 14 in a neighbour's backyard pool in the city's Carson Grove neighbourhood and later died, Ottawa police said.

Police said they were called to a home near Bathgate Drive and Matheson Road east of Ottawa's downtown around 5:20 p.m.

Ottawa paramedics told CBC the child was in cardiac arrest when they were found. Police began CPR and paramedics continued resuscitation efforts on the way to hospital, but they were not successful.
