Health Minister Acts to Prevent Doctors’ Planned Strike
12-Aug-2025.

Health Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said the Ministry is taking all possible measures to prevent the Government Medical Officers’ Association’s planned strike.
Speaking after attending the annual scientific conference of the College of Emergency Physicians of Sri Lanka, he said identified issues will be resolved gradually and urged all parties to ensure uninterrupted medical services for the public.
He claimed there is no real reason for the strike, that discussions had already been held with the union, and that doctors are working with their trade unions.
Shortages of essential medicines are being addressed quickly, and he expressed hope that efforts to avert the strike would succeed.
