Amazon cuts 110 more jobs
07-Aug-2025.

Amazon is overhauling its Wondery podcast business, a move that will see around 110 employees lose their jobs and Wondery CEO Jen Sargent step down, according to Bloomberg. The decision comes as the company changes direction in its podcast strategy, focusing more on video-driven content to compete with platforms like YouTube and Spotify.
Under the new plan, Wondery’s subscription and storytelling teams, which are responsible for shows like Dr. Death, will be merged into Amazon’s audiobook platform, Audible. Marshall Lewy, Wondery’s Chief Content Officer, will take on a new role within Audible.
Meanwhile, personality-led shows such as Dax Shepard’s podcast and the Kelce brothers’ programme will change to a newly formed “creator services” division, which will work on sponsorship deals and brand tie-ups across Amazon’s platforms.
The Wondery brand will still appear on some projects, but its operations will now be more closely integrated with Amazon Music and Audible. The Wondery+ app will stay available for now, while advertising and sponsorship teams will be combined with Amazon’s wider audio sales operations.
