TVK founder and actor-politician Vijay launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP over the PM’s recent visit to the Chola temple, accusing them of politicising Tamil pride while continuing to neglect Tamil Nadu.

He also alleged that the BJP and the ruling DMK were engaged in a “political drama” and labelled them as “indirect relatives.”

He questioned the BJP’s motives behind suddenly showing interest in the Chola dynasty, claiming that the party had never shown genuine regard for Tamil culture or language. “If only the DMK had given the necessary respect to the Chola kings, BJP wouldn’t have taken it up now,” he said. He also accused the DMK of compromising Tamil Nadu’s interests, saying it had “pawned the state to the BJP.”

Vijay said the party was trying to showcase Chola pride while allegedly attempting to “cover up Keeladi,” the archaeological site associated with the ancient Tamil civilisation.

HE further said, “While pretending to oppose each other, BJP and DMK are conducting a political drama. But the people will not fall for it.”

He added that TVK had already passed a resolution two years ago demanding the construction of a massive museum in Chennai to showcase the might of the Chola, Pandya, and Chera dynasties, something he said the DMK government had failed to act on.

“The BJP is against Tamil and Tamil Nadu, and the DMK is hiding behind them. People will give a fitting reply to this in 2026,” Vijay warned.
