Scarborough Councillor Michael Thompson: Standing With the Tamil Community for Truth and Accountability

At a protest in Scarborough, Canada, Scarborough Ward 21 Councillor Michael Thompson expressed solidarity with the Tamil community, emphasizing the need for truth, justice, and accountability regarding atrocities against Tamils in Sri Lanka, including the Chemmani mass graves.

The protest was held on 28 July at Albert Campbell Square, organized by the group "Behind Me Foundation" under the theme “Awake, Tamil.”

Despite heavy rain, the protest was attended by Canadian Tamils, families of former fighters, activists, politicians, and intellectuals. 

Councillor Thompson later reiterated on his official social media page that he stands with the Tamil community in its continued fight for justice and accountability.
