State Housing Minister B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan has suggested to the Karnataka Housing Board (KHB) the construction of 1,000 villas on a 500-acre plot of land situated on the outskirts of Bengaluru. This proposal was raised during a review meeting attended by the board and housing department officials.
In support of his idea, Khan informed the officials that Bengaluru had gained significant international recognition, attracting numerous industrialists and VVIPs from abroad seeking permanent residence close to the city. The plan entails constructing 250 villas in five different directions around Bengaluru, possibly offering spacious 10,000 square feet homes. Khan emphasized that these villas should be located amidst natural surroundings.
Furthermore, Khan previously instructed KHB officials to develop five technologically advanced cities or satellite townships spanning over 2,000 acres of land. Each location would consist of 30,000 plots and 5,000 houses, incorporating the villa proposal within them. As a result, there would be 150,000 plots and 25,000 houses across these proposed five hi-tech cities.
To minimize land acquisition costs for the KHB, the entire project is envisioned to be executed through a 50:50 public-private partnership (PPP) model involving the landowners.
