Victims of alleged genocide gathered across eight districts in the North and East, as well as in Colombo, demanding international and independent judicial investigations.

Organized by the Northern and Eastern People's Movement, the protests carried the theme "International Justice for Tamil Genocide."

Protesters carried placards with slogans such as “Where is Justice?”, “Where Are the Disappeared?”, and “We Want International Justice.” Signatures were collected for a petition to be submitted to international bodies, including the UN Human Rights Council.

In Colombo, the Hill Country Civil Society Alliance held a solidarity protest outside the UN compound, showcasing children’s toys and schoolbags to symbolize lost lives. Many civil society leaders and religious figures participated.

Numerous protests were also held in Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Trincomalee, Batticaloa, and Vavuniya, with participation from MPs, local councilors, religious leaders, and victims’ families. Protesters urged the UN Human Rights Council to pass a strong resolution on Sri Lanka in the upcoming September session.
