Google is reportedly preparing for another round of layoffs, and this time the job cuts will impact its employees in India. 

The upcoming job cuts are said to be part of Google’s ongoing global restructuring efforts and are likely to affect teams in advertising, sales, and marketing—primarily from Google’s Hyderabad and Bengaluru offices.

While Google has not officially confirmed the layoffs in India or shared the number of affected roles, according to a report by Business Standard the process of firing employees could begin as early as next week. 

The news of fresh downsizing follows a recent restructuring within Google’s Platforms and Devices division, which reportedly resulted in hundreds of employees being laid off globally.

In India, however, the report reveals that Google will take a slightly more measured approach—especially concerning engineering roles. Instead of direct layoffs, employees in technical positions at the Hyderabad and Bengaluru campuses may be reassigned to more “revenue-generating” projects.
