Ancient cave paintings discovered in Tamil Nadu could be over 9,000 years old

A unique cluster of ancient cave paintings, believed to date back to the Neolithic era, has been discovered in the Yelagiri hills, sending ripples of excitement through the archaeological community.

The find was brought to light after local visitors alerted scholars from Sacred Heart College about unusual markings in a natural cave atop the hills at Reddiyur.

A team led by Professor Prabhu, head of the Tamil Department and a noted historian and archaeologist, visited the site alongside District Forest officials. 

The team was astonished by the extent and preservation of the paintings.
