09-Jun-2025.

“It is neither new nor a secret that President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Minister Ananda Wijepala were part of the Anti-Corruption Committee in 2015. The President has publicly stated this several times. However, some documents of this committee are missing from the Prime Minister's Office. We do not know where former President Ranil Wickremesinghe took those documents,” said Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasooriya.
She made the above statement while responding to questions raised by Badulla District Parliamentarian Chamara Sampath of the New Democratic Front during the oral question hour in the parliamentary session held on 06-06-2025.
Chamara Sampath further stated, “During the period of the good governance government, the Anti-Corruption Commission Office was established in accordance with the Cabinet Paper submitted by then Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and then Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka on 21 January 2015.”
“Although the Anti-Corruption Commission Office established by the Prime Minister's Office was not legally constituted, actions have been taken through the Prime Minister's Office in accordance with Cabinet decisions made from time to time.”
“The members of the Anti-Corruption Committee were Ranil Wickremesinghe, Mangala Samaraweera, Patali Champika Ranawaka, Wijetasa Rajapaksa, Rauff Hakeem, Sarath Fonseka, Sampanthan, Sumanthiran, Weliamuna, Jayampathy Wickramaratne, Malik Wickramaratne, Dhammika Ganganath, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Ananda Wijepala, and the secretaries of the committee.”
“While the Anti-Corruption Committee Secretariat has received 475 complaints, an additional 687 general complaints have been submitted. The documents related to this committee are not in the possession of the Prime Minister's Secretariat,” he added.
